I am a trial lawyer. I spent the first part of my career trying to figure out how to run a profitable practice. I saw other lawyers attract premium files, while I got the scraps. I had this misguided idea that doing good work meant having a profitable practice. I was wrong.
Everything changed when I realized that I was not just a lawyer, but a CEO. The truth is, a profitable practice comes as a result of profitable practices that so many lawyers often neglect in favour of doing good work. This mindset shift transformed my little office.
